Andre Rison Highlights
Most people are familiar with Andre's storied NFL career. This page features some information about "the younger years" of Andre Rison and outlines several of his amazing accomplishments that most people don't know about.
College Highlights:
Finished his career at Michigan State as the school's all-time leading receiver with 146 receptions for 2,992 yards and 20 TDs. He set single-season records for the Spartans in '86 with 54 catches for 966 yards.
As a senior he gained 252 yards and posted three scores vs. Georgia in the Gator Bowl.
Accepted a basketball scholarship to Michigan State, playing in 24 Spartan games under Jud Heathcote. Future NBA Spartan teammates included Steve Smith and Scott Skiles. Also participated in track and field for Michigan State and posted second place in the Big 10 with a 24' long jump.
High School & Younger:
He played an amazing eight different positions (WR, RB, QB, TE, S, CB, P, K) on the football squad at Northwestern High School in Flint, Michigan. An All-State punter and named to Street & Smith's 10-year All-Anniversary team as a defensive back . An all-around athlete, once doubled as a pitcher and outfielder on a touring national championship AAU team in Fairmont, West Virginia. An All-State prep point guard, led his high school team to a 55-1 record during his career and still ranks as the school's all-time assist leader with 636 dish-outs. High school teammate of University of Michigan and NBA Superstar Glen Rice.
